Movie Review Prep

1. Who are the main characters you would expect to see in the movie, based on the real life events?

It displays the heroic acts of the earlier Captain Phillips as part of a movie based on real life events. In addition to that, it raised more awareness towards the incident.

For personal growth, in need of its supposed treasure (supplies, money, etc.) to quickly gain with risk.

An unforgettable piece but context-less and created issues for the country's security.

Movie Reviews

Aquaman Review (3/5*)
Publication - Fandango (Aquaman)
Writer - Roalouis
Score of Review IMO - 5.5/10 Doesn't talk about why he enjoyed it or its great parts like its cinematography, acting, scenes, etc. and instead compares it to its competitor's movies and how those function.
High Points - Amazing imagery for the important scenes, provided a sympathetic villain, had accurate costumes for the classic characters, etc.
Low Points - Plot was scattered and too long, not enough background to latch onto and ultimately was pushed aside.
Quote - Story line is different than the comic but also had too much humor and was longer than it really needed to be.

Sports Current Event

Article:
Champions League: Tottenham and Real Madrid Post First-Leg Wins

Main Point:
Son Heung-min, Soccer player, gave Tottenham the lead they deserved after being pressured throughout the game in London.

Jargon:
Soccer - Formation, Yellow/Red card, Box, Cross bar, etc.

Adjectives:
Good...that's it

I feel like it is most in-common with the Recap format since it is looking intensely over the previous game and its records. Mainly commentary from journalists and the public.

1. It displays past records of one teammate, how Son has scored four goals in his four games.
2. It does give the final score of the game, 3-0
3. "Ajax, a four-time European champion that won the title in 1995..."
4. Son Heung-min, Borussia Dortmund, Jan Vertonghen, Fernando Llorente, Marco Reus, Harry Kane, Jadon Sancho, Christian Pulisic, Marci Asensio, Hakim Ziyech, Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benzema, Nicolás Tagliafico, Dusan Tadic and Kasper Dolberg.

Sports Exploration Activity

Image result for france soccer
Recent Rankings: France:1 Uruguay:0

Best Players - Soccer (Team)
1. Lionel Messi - Argentina
2. Cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal
3. Luis Suarez - Uruguay
4. Neymar - Brazil
5. Serio Aguero - Argentina

Summary:

For FIFA Russia 2018, France won its World Cup with 11 points scored total. They have appeared in 15 World Cups as of now and has only won 1998's and 2018's.
The three most important rules for Soccer are to keep your hands to yourself (never touch the ball with them), how you score and where, and the number of players in a match.
Yellow and Red cards: They're meant to discipline the misconduct of players during a game. Yellow cards are warnings and Red cards dismiss the players from the field. Two yellow cards automatically equal a red card.
Free-Kick: Given after a player has fouled another opponent, either intentional or indirect.
Goal Area: The box surrounding the goal that stops and starts yards to each side of the goal and extends 6 yards
A common stereotype with soccer is how they celebrate after a goal, shouting "goal", sliding their knees on the ground, running all over the place. You can't watch soccer and not shout goal, that's the audience's one rule.
Leo Messi may be the one soccer player anyone can say they know, that's because he's definitely made a name for himself. He was born in Rosario, Argentina and never attended college because he was recognized at a very young age and was adopted my his very famous team in Argentina.
Lionel Messi has only ever played as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona and in the Argentina national team.
He has won an Olympic Gold Medal (2008) for Soccer, a FIFA World Cup (2005) as well as runner up (2007 & 2014). Worlds best soccer player ('09,'11,'12,'15), and GSA Best Player of the Year (2015), just to name a few.

Magazines Part II

Cover types

1. Early Magazine Covers

Early magazine covers began with just a title and publication date, then the symbols were introduced with the cover lines. They sometimes added a symbolic figure or picture along with the covers. Although, many of the magazines did not even have covers, it was in the 1800's that the standard covers actually started to show up regularly.

2. The Poster Cover

After the late 1800's, it was widely popular to experiment with the Poster Cover type and many even became nationally famous because of it. Similar to the earlier covers, the magazine covers had little to any information about what is inside, besides the title and author, it would just be the illustration or photo.

3. Pictures Married to Type

Includes the use of techniques to form a cover to intrigue the demographic into reading forwards. The use of the models, the images background and how the words will be displayed is what depends on the magazines' success. This type of upbringing in the covers began in in the early 1900's using different editing to appeal to its viewers.

4. In the Forest of Words
Although, the photo can't uphold everything in the cover, what matters is what is inside and words are the best way to communicate that. The headline brings so much importance in the cover or else it would not connect with the demand and be as relevant, which would lead to no sales.

My Favorite Cover

Inspiring magazine covers
There are few magazine covers where the barcode is such an integral part of the design. On this cover of La Luna de Metrópoli, the barcode is infused in an illustration of the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Critique - Barcode Buildings
The simplicity of the cover touches many people because of its' tragic history, as it is related to 9/11. Many will not even need to read the subtitles to understand what is going on in the scene being portrayed and its powerful message. It reminds us of how we should always remember this day, it will always be with us. The straight forward, recognizable barcode draws our attention to the smoke and title for the magazine, along with the red text on the bottom saying "WORLD TRADE CENTER", making us want to know more, to see what they have to give.

Portraits and Self-portraits

Tips:

    Looking off camera:
Have your subject focus their attention on something unseen and outside the field of view of your camera. This can create a feeling of candidness and also create a little intrigue and interest as the viewer of the shot wonders what they are looking at. This intrigue is particularly drawn about when the subject is showing some kind of emotion (ie ‘what’s making them laugh?’ or ‘what is making them look surprised?’). Just be aware that when you have a subject looking out of frame that you can also draw the eye of the viewer of the shot to the edge of the image also – taking them away from the point of interest in your shot – the subject.

   Play with Backgrounds:
The person in your portrait is the main point of interest – however sometimes when you place them into different contexts with different backgrounds you can dramatically alter the mood in a shot. Sometimes you want your background to be as minimalistic as possible.

   Experiment with Lighting:
Another element of randomness that you can introduce to your portraits is the way that you light them. There are almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to using light in portraits. Side-lighting can create mood, backlighting and silhouetting your subject to hide their features can be powerful.

Environmental Portrait

Has a different sense of culture and marketing.
Image result for environmental portrait
Has a large and repetitive scenery/background to focus more on the person in front.

Photography Self-Portrait

Gives a deeper meaning with the added color on his face with the monochromatic background
"Headshot", includes a pun and a metaphor for the work of a photographer.

Casual Portrait

Applies the Rule of Thirds and blurs background to focus on the lady.
Why is he in the fruit aisle, taking a very professional photo, smoldering? That's for him to know.

I will be shooting my mom for the photos, most likely by a park but hopefully downtown with the public. If with public, I will blur the background to focus on her, if with nature, I'll brighten the photo and have her do a pose if possible. I will include a side portrait of her looking at the distance, possibly with a prop, lowering the aperture and raising the aperture right before it begins to look grainy. And another with her looking busy, casual state, or relaxing.

Aperture of F16+

1. What part of the body should we closely relate aperture?
Our pupils in our eyes

2. Finish this sentence - the smaller the Aperture, the smaller the background blur is. The higher the Aperture, the more blurry the background is.

3. In your own words tell me how aperture impacts Depth of Field

It can dramatically change how large a room or scene feels when tinkering with depth of field on aperture.

1. If you were assigned to shoot at Bulldogs and Hotdogs night, which was a few months ago, what shutter speeds do you think you would have to shoot at the following events that night I would like you to answer the question for the following two situations:

At the beginning while the sun was still up and the courtyard had reasonable good light

a.) a booth in the middle of the yard near the Tree

   Slow shutter speed

b.) a food booth outside under one of the big red awnings
   A medium shutter speed

c.) the Stars performance inside the gym
   Fast or medium shutter speed

d.) students dancing near the center of the courtyard
   Medium to fast shutter speed

e.) people streaming in from the front doors
   Slow shutter speed

f.) the basketball booth where students are shooting basketballs at a hoop
  Fast shutter speed

Towards the end when there is no sun and has gotten dark enough that you can't see from one end of the courtyard to the other.

a.) a booth in the middle of the yard near the Tree
   Slow shutter speed for light

b.) a food booth outside under one of the big red awnings
   Slow shutter speed for light

c.) the Stars performance inside the gym
Fast shutter speed for freeze effect

d.) students dancing near the center of the courtyard
Slow shutter speed for blur and light

e.) people streaming in from the front doors
Slow shutter speed for blur and light

f.) the basketball booth where students are shooting basketballs at a hoop
Slow shutter speed for blur and light

2. List the three settings your camera has regarding setting shutter speed (these are found by clicking on the hyperlink labeled: Camera Modes on the Shutter Speed website in the paragraph titled How to Set Shutter Speed). Explain how each works - DO NOT COPY AND PASTE, use your own words.

   a. Program - Is automatically chosen by the camera based on the amount of light that passes through the lens.
   b. Shutter Priority - can change the shutter speed manually, although aperture is automatically picked
   c. Manual - can change aperture, can also change shutter speed

Taken with ISO 200

Taken with ISO 6400

1. What are the advantages of shoot at a higher ISO at a sporting event like basketball or a night football game?
Shooting at a higher ISO in a sporting event will prevent all of its motion blurs and help the photo not be as dark.

2. What suggestions did the author make about using a low ISO?
To attempt to use it more often when the scene isn't as dark

3. What suggestions did the author make about using a high ISO?
It is necessary to reduce the motion blur but it makes the photo appear 'grainy'.

Aperture settings
Can set aperture from F2.8 to F22

Shutter Speed settings
Can set the shutter speed from 1/4000 of a second to 1 second

ISO Settings
Can set ISO from 100 to 25600
