Sports Current Event

Article:
Champions League: Tottenham and Real Madrid Post First-Leg Wins

Main Point:
Son Heung-min, Soccer player, gave Tottenham the lead they deserved after being pressured throughout the game in London.

Jargon:
Soccer - Formation, Yellow/Red card, Box, Cross bar, etc.

Adjectives:
Good...that's it

I feel like it is most in-common with the Recap format since it is looking intensely over the previous game and its records. Mainly commentary from journalists and the public.

1. It displays past records of one teammate, how Son has scored four goals in his four games.
2. It does give the final score of the game, 3-0
3. "Ajax, a four-time European champion that won the title in 1995..."
4. Son Heung-min, Borussia Dortmund, Jan Vertonghen, Fernando Llorente, Marco Reus, Harry Kane, Jadon Sancho, Christian Pulisic, Marci Asensio, Hakim Ziyech, Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benzema, Nicolás Tagliafico, Dusan Tadic and Kasper Dolberg.

Sports Exploration Activity

Image result for france soccer
Recent Rankings: France:1 Uruguay:0

Best Players - Soccer (Team)
1. Lionel Messi - Argentina
2. Cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal
3. Luis Suarez - Uruguay
4. Neymar - Brazil
5. Serio Aguero - Argentina

Summary:

For FIFA Russia 2018, France won its World Cup with 11 points scored total. They have appeared in 15 World Cups as of now and has only won 1998's and 2018's.
The three most important rules for Soccer are to keep your hands to yourself (never touch the ball with them), how you score and where, and the number of players in a match.
Yellow and Red cards: They're meant to discipline the misconduct of players during a game. Yellow cards are warnings and Red cards dismiss the players from the field. Two yellow cards automatically equal a red card.
Free-Kick: Given after a player has fouled another opponent, either intentional or indirect.
Goal Area: The box surrounding the goal that stops and starts yards to each side of the goal and extends 6 yards
A common stereotype with soccer is how they celebrate after a goal, shouting "goal", sliding their knees on the ground, running all over the place. You can't watch soccer and not shout goal, that's the audience's one rule.
Leo Messi may be the one soccer player anyone can say they know, that's because he's definitely made a name for himself. He was born in Rosario, Argentina and never attended college because he was recognized at a very young age and was adopted my his very famous team in Argentina.
Lionel Messi has only ever played as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona and in the Argentina national team.
He has won an Olympic Gold Medal (2008) for Soccer, a FIFA World Cup (2005) as well as runner up (2007 & 2014). Worlds best soccer player ('09,'11,'12,'15), and GSA Best Player of the Year (2015), just to name a few.

Magazines Part II

Cover types

1. Early Magazine Covers

Early magazine covers began with just a title and publication date, then the symbols were introduced with the cover lines. They sometimes added a symbolic figure or picture along with the covers. Although, many of the magazines did not even have covers, it was in the 1800's that the standard covers actually started to show up regularly.

2. The Poster Cover

After the late 1800's, it was widely popular to experiment with the Poster Cover type and many even became nationally famous because of it. Similar to the earlier covers, the magazine covers had little to any information about what is inside, besides the title and author, it would just be the illustration or photo.

3. Pictures Married to Type

Includes the use of techniques to form a cover to intrigue the demographic into reading forwards. The use of the models, the images background and how the words will be displayed is what depends on the magazines' success. This type of upbringing in the covers began in in the early 1900's using different editing to appeal to its viewers.

4. In the Forest of Words
Although, the photo can't uphold everything in the cover, what matters is what is inside and words are the best way to communicate that. The headline brings so much importance in the cover or else it would not connect with the demand and be as relevant, which would lead to no sales.

My Favorite Cover

Inspiring magazine covers
There are few magazine covers where the barcode is such an integral part of the design. On this cover of La Luna de Metrópoli, the barcode is infused in an illustration of the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Critique - Barcode Buildings
The simplicity of the cover touches many people because of its' tragic history, as it is related to 9/11. Many will not even need to read the subtitles to understand what is going on in the scene being portrayed and its powerful message. It reminds us of how we should always remember this day, it will always be with us. The straight forward, recognizable barcode draws our attention to the smoke and title for the magazine, along with the red text on the bottom saying "WORLD TRADE CENTER", making us want to know more, to see what they have to give.
